Our Story
We are a u-pick blueberry farm in northwest Florida. We grow both Southern Highbush cultivars and Rabbiteye varieties. The seven acre property that we currently operate on, formally known as Lundy Blueberry and Pecan was established around 1994. The property was then purchased from Dr. Herbert Lundy in Fall of 2012 by Paul and Alesia Griswold and ran in partnership with friends Ben and Jamie Ellison. In April of 2013 we opened for our first u-pick season as Blue Basket Farms.
The name Blue Basket Farms was chosen as a play on words and rings true to the crop that started it all, blueberries! The Ellison and Griswold families have shared a life long friendship and wanted Blue Basket Farms to be a place for other families and friends to spend quality time together. Over the years you have seen familiar faces of the family, and friends of these two families working behind the stand. Long time customers have become dear friends and have watched not just our farm grow but the kids of the Griswold and Ellison family as well. Blue Basket Farms LLC is now owned and operated by one of the kids, Amanda Griswold, who started picking berries and working the stand in high school.
Amanda graduated from Central High School in 2015 and furthered her education at Auburn University, spending her summers still working at the farm. In Fall of 2018, Amanda graduated from Auburn with a Bachelors of Science in Animal Sciences and a minor in Agribusiness. Upon graduation she returned back to Allentown where she took over Blue Basket Farms, while also working at a the family peanut buying point, farming other row crops such as cotton and peanuts, as well as raising beef cattle.
While Blue Basket Farms has grown and changed, the goal has remained the same... to create a family friendly experience, to educate consumers, and to produce healthy and quality fruit for all to enjoy!
Thank you for all of your support, and we look forward to keep growing with you! We can’t wait to meet you at the farm!
